Fun fact… strawberries are low in fat and calories, high in vitamin C, fiber, folic acid, and potassium! They’re like a super fruit, and to top that off, according to some super old folklore, apparently if you split a double strawberry in half and share it with someone, you’ll fall in love! I need to start sharing my strawberries and stop being so dang selfish! Hehe.
So amazing. There’s just something about berries in the summertime though. They are so juicy and sweet and glorious. I don’t understand why some people don’t like them, they don’t even need the ice cream. But as you’ll soon find, I find any and every excuse to add copious amounts of sugar to things when it isn’t even close to necessary. Although somewhat less than healthy for you, this beverage is full of fruit. I don’t see anything wrong with eating something unhealthy as long as there is some good to it. Each drink has two servings of fruit, so I’d say that’s a win for your diet!
A friend from my hometown came over to my apartment in LA on this gorgeous Sunday morning and it was crazy hot outside which inspired us to create this masterpiece for breakfast. We planned to head to the beach, but after consuming so much delicious fruit and other snacks we couldn’t move and ended up baking in the sun on my balcony instead of on the sand and eating even more. Like literally all day. We’re fatties at heart ❤
This smoothie is super sweet with some tartness to it at the end. It is so fruity and heavenly, and I wouldn’t be opposed to drinking one of these every single morning forever and ever (at least in the summertime :])
Banana Berry Smoothie
makes just one smoothie for you!
one banana, peeled
1/2 cup of frozen strawberries
1/2 cup of frozen raspberries
one large scoop of vanilla ice cream*
1/4 cup of vanilla yogurt*
Freeze the berries overnight. Throw all ingredients into a blender and blend! It’s that easy. Garnish with some more berries and a straw if you’re feeling crazy.
*For those who are gluten-free, ensure that your yogurt and ice cream are gluten-free.
