My lil’ brother is leaving off to college. **tear** The separation process is much easier when you can indulge in this chocolatey goodness…
My parents had a going away party on sunday for littlest Dito with some of our neighbors, friends, cousins, aunts, uncles, and our grandma. My mom always makes homemade ice cream for events like this, so I had to take the opportunity to share this with you, too. It’s always a huge hit. Even our little puppy wants to get his paws (and tongue) on this stuff, it’s so rich and creamy you can’t just have one bowl of it.
Look at that little bugger, isn’t he freaking adorable? With his birth defected extra large tongue and all, this puppy is definitely a heart throb.
The greatest thing about making homemade ice cream is that it is SO much creamier than anything you could ever buy at the store or at an ice cream parlor. Did you know that apparently ice cream diets are a thing? What the heck?! There’s no way that works. Although it would be quite incredible to participate in, not gonna lie.
My brother just turned the big 1-8 and is heading up north to start a new adventure, and he’s also majoring in business!! Luckily for him, he gets a late start for college. Some of us (myself included), have already been in school for three weeks. -_-
Anyways, now that littlest Dito is gone off to college, there is more ice cream for me to eat. You best bet there are plenty of leftovers. And now I get to indulge in some homemade ice cream the next time I go to my parents’ house. I try to visit them every week, but it’s tough with all that I have going on, not to mention it’s roughly an hour drive to get there from where I currently reside. Freaking fall, man. It’s such a time suck. I already miss summer. :[
And the ice cream, because I ate it all.
The fact that summer time is over makes me really sad, but fall is coming and that means another school year is underway for all of us, therefore making this posting process a bit difficult. But stay tuned! In the meantime, eat a lot of ice cream and sweet yummy things to ease this transition of seasons.
Homemade Chocolate Ice Cream
takes about an hour, feeds about 12 people
2 quarts of half & half
2 pints of heavy whipping cream
3 1/2 cups of sugar
1 tablespoon of vanilla
4 ounces of unsweetened chocolate powder
Whip all the ingredients together in a large bowl with a mixer until all the sugar and cocoa powder is mixed in. Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and start the freezing process. When the machine stops, the ice cream is ready! Just make sure you’re watching the ice level.
Happy end of summer all! :]
